Philip "Phil" Margo (born April 1, 1942, Brooklyn, New York) is an American musician and author who is a longtime member of The Tokens,as was his late brother Mitch Margo. They are best known for their hit recording of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" which rose to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained there for three weeks in 1961. Other hits by The Tokens included "Tonight I Fell In Love", "I Hear Trumpets Blow", "He's In Town" and "Portrait of My Love". In addition to his singing, Phil Margo also plays the drums. His brother Mitch passed away in 2017.
